Jaf Jervis began Djing in London’s legendary Gossips club (home of Billys and Gaz’s Rocking Blues) back in 1980. He has DJ’d at major London clubs including The 100 Club, Turnmills, Brixton Academy, the Bedford and Under The Bridge. He played the legendary all-nighters at the Scala in Kings Cross (and was featured in articles in Blues and Soul and Black Echoes magazines), at London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall when they premiered a series of late night jazz concerts and The ICA where he provided music for their successful Bowiefest, Blondiefest and IggyFest weekends. He frequently DJs in Berlin at the famous Eschloraque, Gretchen and Solar clubs. In early 2022 Jaf started a regular series called Out On The Floor at the Mildmay Club in North London playing northern soul and R&B. Since then Jaf has added the Sound Lounge in South London and the Mods Mayday events in Central London to his regular gigs.
His radio career started in 2011 when he joined Salford City Radio, broadcasting a weekly show across Greater Manchester on FM and worldwide online. In July 2018 Jaf began his Blues and Grooves show on the Face Radio, Brooklyn playing anything that takes his fancy but mainly soul, reggae, funk, disco, dance, blues and plenty of David Bowie.
Jaf sang for post punk band Zeitgeist in the early eighties who released several records, most notably a cover of the Temptations’ Ball Of Confusion that reached the top ten in the Indie Charts. They charted on various college radio stations in the US, played with The Birthday Party, Depeche Mode, The Jam and headlined the 1000+ capacity The Venue in London twice. Nowadays Jaf sings for R&B band King Biscuit who cover songs by Little Johnny Taylor. Joe Tex, Roscoe Gordon, Slim Harpo, the Meters and others.
