Born in London but now living in Thailand, Mike has been brought up on a mix of musical influences ranging from original R’n’B to Soul, Disco, Reggae, Afro-beat and Jazz which fired Mikes love of all things jazz and soul in terms of music. Influenced by the sounds of Detroit and Philadelphia he has amassed a large collection of music spanning many genres from Soul, Funk, Disco, Latin, Afrobeat and Jazz through to House and Electronica.
He has worked with top Djs around the world and supported live acts as diverse as Roy Ayers, Tom Browne, Incognito, Heatwave and Light of the World to Tyree Cooper, Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk and Adonis.
One half of the Diplomats Of Soul, a production / Dj team who bring their blend of nu-soul and jazz to the world. Their first project was a remake of the Donny Hathaway classic “Someday” with Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick and featured the late great Noel McKoy on vocals. This was followed up with a cover version of Tom Browne’s ‘Brighter Tomorrow’ and the classics ‘Sweet Power, Your Embrace’ and ‘Mi Sabrina Tequana’. 2020 saw the DOS projects biggest hit with a cover of Paul Anka’s ‘Never Gonna Fall In Love’.
Diplomats Of Soul have also released a number of hard to find 45’s such as ‘Be There In The Morning’ by Renee Geyer, the Hilton Felton jazz funk classic ‘Be Bop Boogie’ and the rare version of the Jon Lucien classic ‘Lady Love’ by Grady Tate. The latest is Chuck Brown’s ‘Berro e Sombaro’.
CONNECTIONS is a cross genre show connecting people with music from around the globe and across the genres. The show focuses on bringing new, fresh and exciting music from soul, funk and jazz to afro-beat, latin, electronica and pretty much anything that moves your soul.
