Searching for the Perfect Beat
BiMonthly, Tuesday 2-4pm
Balearic, World, House, Afrobeat, Left Field
Mark is a UK-based DJ, radio presenter and music curator from Banbury, known for his soulful, genre-spanning approach to DJing. With an encyclopaedic knowledge of music and a passion for discovering new sounds, his sets weave together Jazz, Soul, Afrobeat, Brazilian rhythms, Funk, House, Broken Beat and contemporary underground music.
Inspired by his parents’ record collection, where Motown, Atlantic and Stax Records sparked a lifelong love of Black music, Mark has since built a broad musical palette spanning hip-hop, techno, rare groove, jazz, latin music and electronic sounds.
His broadcasting career began at Banbury Internet Radio before leading to more than 12 years on Soulpower Radio, where he hosted Searching for the Perfect Beat — a two-hour journey through organic beats and rhythms from around the world. His shows are known for blending timeless classics with fresh discoveries, introducing listeners to music that transcends genres and borders.
Mark is also resident DJ and co-promoter of Ease Your Mind, Banbury’s long-running Sunday afternoon session, which has welcomed guests including Colin Curtis, Dr Bob Jones, Dave Lyn, Sean McCabe and Yogi Haughton. He has appeared at respected events including Shiftless Shuffle, We Out Here Festival, Camp Soul, London Soul Cruise, Music Without Labels and the Cotswold Park Weekender.
Whether on the airwaves or behind the decks, Mark’s sets are driven by curiosity, impeccable taste and a passion for connecting people through exceptional music.
Join Mark every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 2pm as Searching for the Perfect Beat continues with everything from Drum & Bass to Boogaloo—and all points in between.
